Pam Lundy
Dog Training

Testimonials from current and past clients

I consider myself fortunate to have assisted a wide range of students and their dogs to happy and enriched lives together.  I am happy to provide more references upon request.

I have known Pam Lundy for almost 20 years.  Pam's knowledge, understanding and love of dogs and her respect and empathy for her clients combine to make her the excellent dog trainer that she is.  She unfailingly promotes connections between her clients and their dogs that become the foundation for building strong relationships and the basis for any subsequent training.  I have been training dogs for most of my life and professionally for the past 10 years.  If I encounter a problem with a client or dog I seek Pam's counsel.   She is fantastic.

I like to tell my friends, "We have great dogs because of Pam." Pam Lundy saved us when we brought home our two Whoodles from Michigan. While we were waiting for our puppies, we read books and watched TV trainers, but when they actually arrived we just didn't know where to start. Recommended by our vet, Pam came in with her treat pouch and clicker and immediately made a great impact on their behavior. Every week they, and we, learned vital skills, from walking them on a leash to navigating stairs, from basic commands to fun little tricks. Her emphasis on the positive was effective and fun, and Cinnamon and Nutmeg rushed to see the "Cookie Lady" every time she came. Cinnamon even rings a bell to say she wants to go out. (Nutmeg learned, too, but seems happy to leave that responsibility to her sister, and we celebrate their individuality.)

One of the many skills we are especially grateful for is "settle down" on a mat. We practiced at home during meal time so now when we dine at restaurant patios, our dogs settle down and behave like perfect little ladies while we eat. It's lovely to be able take them with us, and know we can rely on them to be socially pleasant and polite to other diners, and even other dogs who might be there as well.

Besides training behaviors, Pam offered helpful advice on grooming, feeding, and caging. Today we realize every day how our lives are greatly enriched by our "puppies", and we are exceptionally grateful to Pam's skills in making them such lovable members of our household.

We wholeheartedly recommend Pam Lundy.

I have known Pam Lundy for over five years.  In that time she has helped me train six of my dogs in basic good dog manners, Rally Obedience, AKC Competition Obedience, the new sport of Rally FRee, and the basics of Tellington T-Touch.  Her skill as a trainer of dogs and their human handlers is excellent.  She is very knowledgeable in training techniques that enhance the bonds between humans and dogs in a way that teaches the human how to handle life and training situations in a positive and proactive manner rather than a reactive, negative response. If a person wants to train for obedience competitions, she is able to teach a team how to achieve the precision necessary to compete.  Her friendly personality and calm demeanor reassures people that they CAN train their dogs.  Those of us who know and work with her refer to her as a “dog magnet” - the dogs all love her and methods.

Two weeks after my husband and I euthanized the love of our life dog, we adopted a beautiful 6-month-old mix breed dog from Pima Anima Care Center. She had been a stray.  Four months later we adopted a 5-month-old handsome shepherd mix who had been sick enough to be in the veterinary clinic at PACC. Each dog was taken to training with Pam Lundy and April Bush immediately.  Things were going great! We had 2 new great dogs and life was good… for a while.  When each dog reached a certain level of social maturity, we discovered that our beautiful Weezee had tendencies toward dog aggression, a strong hunting instinct, and a VERY short attention span in many instances. Our handsome Duke had fear of people that could manifest as aggression.  I am a veterinarian. My husband was an animal control officer.  We had great trainers. How could this happen?!

The answer, of course, is that we had the dogs we had, and now we needed to step the training up a notch or two.  Pam Lundy, who I have known for over 10 years, was there for us then and is still there for us now.  We began a reactive dog class with Pam that included likeminded dogs.  What a relief to know we were not alone.   Soon after we began Rally training to help cement the bond and communication skills necessary to help our dogs stay focused and fulfilled.
Pam has the skill set and the patience to train people to see the good in their dogs. This is the first step to feeling successful in training a dog.  She sees what the owner cannot see and she has the tools to help any of us bring out the best in our relationship with our dogs. Her toolbox seems endlessly full in this way.  I know what it is to feel frustrated and to feel like a failure to my dogs.  Pam always finds a way to turn frustration into fulfillment.

"I got to know Pam through a recommendation from my vet.  At the time, I only had Chloe (white Labradoodle). Later on, I also got Kaya (brown Standard poodle).

I got to know Pam through basic dog training classes,  Cacine Good Citizenship training, and T-Touch classes.  In addition, I have had the pleasure to learn from her with some private training sessions at home.

Both dogs are rescues and have some unknown past history; it seems some of their history was not pleasant and this has meant that I needed to learn to help them with fears, anxiety, socialization, and so on. And in many other respects, they are happy,  goofy young dogs and I needed to learn how to train them best.

In my experience, all trainers have a method and they tell you how things "should" be. However, Pam stands out because she understands behavior in a much more dynamic way.   She is observant, she notices details you might miss, and understands dogs and people quickly and deeply.  Unlike other trainers in my experience, Pam sees how to modify an approach when it's less effective with a particular dog or circumstance.

Pam is incredibly calm and kind. She exudes confidence and wisdom. I love being around her, I feel happier after a training session and so do the dogs.  That's part of the reason why she is so effective.

Pam has given me much advice.  One that stood out was to help me shift my thinking: I used to try to follow prescriptive steps: first do this, then that, then that, and follow a sequence of actions that would help train my dog. Pam said, try a different way. Think of your dog as your teacher.  Let your dog show you the way.  That has made all the difference for me.

I will always be grateful and I cannot recommend Pam more highly.
